What a real Black Friday gun safe discount looks like
Field & Stream's Black Friday 2024 list put most handgun safe discounts at $30 to $100: the Vaultek DS2i at $399 ($80 off), the Hornady RAPiD Safe Night Guard at $199 ($100 off) and Vaultek's Essential Series at $127 ($32 off). Outdoor Life's Black Friday 2025 list showed 15% off a SentrySafe fireproof safe and $42 off a GLORYFIRE biometric pistol safe.
On a $120 to $420 handgun safe, a cut of 15% or more is in line with past Black Fridays. If a price is near the ones above, it's a fair deal.
Big long-gun safes: shop the sporting goods stores
The large long-gun safes in Field & Stream's and Outdoor Life's Black Friday lists, from Liberty, Browning, Winchester and Cabela's, are sold through sporting goods stores such as Cabela's, Bass Pro and Scheels rather than Amazon. Their discounts are much larger. Field & Stream's early Black Friday 2026 list, published October 19, 2026, had a Winchester 20-gun safe at $349 ($200 off), a Winchester 36-gun at $549 ($250 off) and a Cabela's Signature 50-gun at $2,999 ($1,000 off).
Pew Pew Tactical warns that the cheap long-gun cabinets sold on Amazon are closer to locking cabinets than safes and usually hold fewer guns than the box says, especially rifles with scopes. It names Stack-On and Barska as the better-known brands in that group.
Fire ratings: read the label, not the word fireproof
Look for a UL classification with a time and temperature, like the SentrySafe's one hour at 1,700°F. Outdoor Life set a portable 'fireproof' safe on fire for its review and talked with a professional safe cracker about what happens to safe contents after a fire.
Most quick-access handgun safes, including the Vaultek and Hornady models here, aren't fire rated at all. They're built to keep a gun away from kids and casual thieves.
Before you buy on Amazon
Several safes here are sold on Amazon by third-party dealers rather than Amazon itself, and their prices can be higher than at other stores. Field & Stream's early Black Friday list had the Hornady Night Guard at $220 at another store, so compare before you buy.
Safes are heavy and large ones ship curbside. Outdoor Life notes that delivery services won't carry a big safe into your home, so plan for help moving it.
