Bob Vila's best pellet grill for searing is the Weber Searwood XL 600, which reached 600°F and delivered some of the best sear its tester has gotten from a pellet grill (sold by Amazon). For tailgates and small patios, its portable pick is the Traeger Tailgater. For pizza, the Ooni Karu 2 Pro makes 16-inch pizzas in about a minute, and Homes & Gardens called it the best pizza oven it has tested. The electric Ninja Woodfire is easier and also smokes, though Tom's Guide found it isn't as hot as dedicated pizza ovens. Pellet grills and searing
Pellet grills burn wood pellets for steady, smoky heat, but many can't get hot enough for a steakhouse crust. Bob Vila found the Searwood XL 600 is an exception. The Tailgater tops out at 450°F, so it's better for smoking and roasting than searing.
Dedicated pizza oven or multi-cooker
Dedicated pizza ovens like the Ooni run far hotter, so pizzas cook in about a minute. The Ninja trades top heat for convenience: it plugs in, runs at up to 700°F and also roasts, bakes and smokes, per Tom's Guide.
Ooni's oven needs wood or charcoal unless you buy the gas burner; the Ninja needs an outdoor outlet within reach of its short cord.
